Project Title: Tropical agricultural landscapes in a changing climate: oil palm, rainforest biodiversity and ecosystem services
Research Interests: I am interested in the impacts of global change on ecosystems, particularly on tropical forests, and how science may inform policy to provide the best outcomes for people and biodiversity.

Lead Supervisor: Dr Bob Johnston
Research Interests: I am a PhD student at the University of Sheffield studying sea level change through diatom analysis. The project is collaborating between the Archaeology Department at Sheffield University and the Environment Department at York, as well as the CASE partner RCAHMW.

Project Title: Rapid sea-level rise: lessons from the Holocene
Research Interests: I am interested in past environmental changes, reconstructing these, and their relevance to current and future climate change. Of particular interest is the role of the flux between ice and water within the climate system.

Joanne Stonehouse
University of Sheffield
Lead Supervisor: Prof Jon Slate
Research Interests: This project in view of climate change, aims to understand the genomics of adaptation to climate in wild European great tit (Parus major) populations. Barcode sequencing of the great tit genome allowed a Genome-Environment analysis to be run on 20 populations, to identify genes associated with climate adaptation. A GO term enrichment analysis was run to gain insight into how the biological roles of these genes help birds adapt to climatic conditions. This project will also consider within population selective sweeps and if the candidate genes are found in museum samples from the UK.
